Skip Thompson purchased Levrett Transmission, a 45-year-old transmission shop in March of 2015. Now known as Levrett Automotive. After purchasing the shop, we still do transmissions, but have added full general automotive repair. Skip Thomson’s passion for auto repair and maintenance began in 1987 when he became a Honda mechanic while living in Connecticut. He continued to work as a mechanic solely focused on Honda cars when he moved to Colorado in 1991. Skip relocated to Reno in 1995 and expanded his professional expertise to the aftermarket auto segment with a position at Meineke. With this experience in auto repair and service under his belt, he co-founded his own shop in 1997. After selling his interest to his partner in 2011, Skip continued to work as a mechanic in the Reno area. Throughout Skip’s lengthy career working as a mechanic and auto repair shop owner, he has earned numerous ASE and Drive certifications. He also has served two terms as the BNI president and has been recognized several times by industry networking organizations.

Through their hard work, we have established and maintained an excellent reputation for providing superior results for all types of auto repair and services that we complete. Our team consists of Brandon and Luke at the front counter. Our technicians are Esteban, Kevin, and Conner.

Levrett Automotive has always strived to give back to the community. Some of the highlights over the years are contributing to the EDDY house and in 2024 received a Founders Award at their annual gala. We also help reno coat drive and sponsor high school sports teams and sponsor local off road dirt bike racers at local, national, and international races. Once a year we put on a Brake for Kids event, 10% of all brake repairs goes directly to help St. Jude’s Childrens hospital.

Skip is actively involved in a business development group (BDG) with all the NAPA auto care centers in Reno and Sparks. Our group is always giving back to the community.

When you reach out to our mechanics for transmission services, brake repairs or something else, you are connecting with professionals who are committed to making our community a better place. We regularly volunteer at Eddy House, which provides supplies, food and housing to youths in need. We also participate in drives for coats, school supplies and food. Our community involvement extends to two customer appreciation events each summer and to participation in the BDG car giveaway that supports local veterans.
